How Do Transitions Work in a Scenario?

Transitions are available in scenarios that have more than one state.

Updated over a year ago

For any scenario with more than one state, a transition must be programmed in to ensure the students are progressing to the next state based on the specific action they take or did not take.

In our pre-made scenarios, the transitions are already embedded.

When you are creating your own scenarios with more than one state a series of transitions is required to move participants forward in that scenario.

Please note the following:

a. The transition section is free text and can be edited as you see fit.

b. Name the transition in a descriptive manner to reflect the state they belong to.

c. Select which states the scenario will transition to based on this action.

(What is the transition and to what state)

d. Once that's completed you will need to ensure there is a condition assigned to this transition.

This would tell the computer if and when this condition is satisfied then progress to the selected state.

The condition can be time, medication, certain interventions, and so on.

You can have the condition of inaction/time. Meaning if the students take no action within a certain time, the patient would progress to a different state.

If there is more than one way of reaching a goal you can also have and/or condition by simply clicking on "Add "Or" Condition" and as soon as any of them are met, the transition to the selected state would be complete.
