How to Add/Populate Medical Orders to a Scenario

Read on to learn about how you can incorporate medical orders in your scenarios.

Updated over 11 months ago

The best practice is to tie the medical order to a provider dialog line. This way, whenever the dialog line is played, the order will appear. Please note that students will receive a flag on the EHR that tells them there is a new order.

Adding a medical order can be done by taking the following steps:

1. Go to the scenario catalog, and select your scenario.

2. Click the 'Actions' button on the top right of the page. Select the 'Edit' option that is available to you (note: you may only have the option to Duplicate & Edit, if the scenario was originally created by UbiSim):

3. Click the Scenario tab. Then, click on 'Shared Modules.' If you've not added it already, click the '+Add Medical Orders Set' button:

The order is free text and you can edit or add medications as needed.

Once the medical order is populated you can then tie it to a dialog line.

Please follow these steps to tie a medical order to a dialog line:

1. After you've created your medical order, select it by clicking the checkbox which will highlight it in blue:

2. Under the Dialogs column, select the dialog box that you wish to tie the order to. Make sure that the dialog box is also checked off and is blue. Then, click on the box:

3. In the Provider tab, you can choose which line will trigger that order:

a. Select the applicable line.

b. Click on the dropdown menu to the right of the line.

c. Select the medical order you wish to tie to it.

d. Click Save.

During the scenario and in the selected state, as soon as that line is played, the medical order will appear in the EHR.
