Debriefing has three components:
SESSION FEEDBACK: Feedback is based on how learners performed against the checklist.
GUIDED REFLECTION: Short form questions that the students have to type out.
POST-SIMULATION QUIZ: A means to assess students' knowledge via multiple choice questions.
Please watch the video below for an overview of these elements:
You may follow the steps below to get to the Debriefing:
1. Click on the Performance tab, which will automatically place you in the Sessions done page. Then, find the session you wish to review and click on it. You can also use any of the 5 available filters (All Time, Scenario, Num. of attempts, Cohort, & Learners) to make your search easier:
2. After selecting the session, you can see the three tabs that were mentioned at the top of this page: Session Feedback, Guided Reflection, and Post-Simulation Quiz:
You can view the overall session feedback for each learner. You have the option to use filters and focus on one or more sections of the results:
Scenario Performance
As a new feature, UbiSim now better aggregates performance gap and critical action data for different learners performances within your institution.
Going back to the Performance page, you can click on the Scenario performance tab. Then, use one or as many of the 5 filters above to sort the data you are looking for. As an example, we can click the 'Scenario' dropdown menu:
Then, we will select 2 scenarios. Now, we can see a chart containing all of the data relevant to just the selected scenarios:
Similarly, we can use any of the other filters above by themselves or in combination with each other to generate different reports.
So how do the 'Sessions done' and 'Scenario performance' pages work together? Whereas the former shows you data for individual sessions, the latter consolidates all performances across learners.
To better explain this, let's take a look at the two aforementioned scenarios and focus on the data for the 'Perform hand hygiene' action:
The row in the screenshot above shows that:
For Maureen Moore - Prelabor Rupture of Membranes: Management of Labor, 0 performances recorded this action as a Critical Action (CA), whereas 156 performances recorded it as a Performance Gap (PG).
For Max Sheppard - Gastroenteritis, 0 performances recorded this action as a CA, whereas 60 performances recorded it as a PG.
The difference between the two types of actions are that Critical Actions are actions that were performed correctly, whereas Performance Gaps are actions that were either performed incorrectly or not performed when they were supposed to.
Notice also in the screenshot above that this row was highlighted in blue. This color coding signifies that these actions took place across both scenarios. In contrast, any rows in grey signify that the action took place in one scenario but not the other. In this case, one scenario will display data, whereas the other will appear with a '-' and no data.
Lastly, you have the option to Export this data to a .csv file by clicking the 'Export' button just below the chart:
This new feature is very useful if you are trying to better understand trends in actions; whether it is more common for your learners to perform them correctly or incorrectly, and it allows for a high degree of granularity!
Guided Reflection
Learners have the option to answer these questions and submit their answers for faculty to review. (As a faculty user, you have the ability to make modifications to these questions via the scenario editor).
Post-Simulation Quiz
Students have the option to answer these questions and submit their answers for faculty to review. Just as above, you also have the option to modify these questions using the scenario editor.
Web Replay view
If the option is enabled within the 'Admin Settings' page, you will be able to view the web replay. This is a recording of your session (specifically, the facilitator screen) that is automatically uploaded to your UbiSim account:
Please note: prior to starting a session, the Web Streaming option needs to be toggled on. Web Streaming is required for a partner (peer or faculty) to facilitate the session on the web, and to view a recording of the web session during debriefing):
Questions?
For clarification on anything in this article or other questions, Faculty (Trainers, Admins & IT) are welcome to contact our support team
by emailing support@ubisimvr.com
or starting a live chat via the blue button in the lower-right corner of the screen.
Note: Learners and students should contact their institution’s IT team or administrator directly, as most troubleshooting steps must be performed by them.
